What is your shipping policy?

SHIPPING INFO
We ship all over the world from Montreal, either with Canada Post (for small artworks and Canadian customers only) or with an worldwide courier specializing in artworks. Shipping charges vary depending on artwork size, weight and final destination. Normal shipping costs will be estimated and applied at checkout once an address is entered. Please note that a surcharge may apply, if shipping to rural or remote areas. If a surcharge is required by the carrier, I will contact you before shipping for your consent on the surcharge, or I will fully reimburse your purchase. Please contact me if you have specific shipping questions.

Some extra-large artworks can be taken off their stretchers, rolled and shipped in a cardboard box or tube to reduce shipping costs. These artworks will need to be re-stretched on a new frame at their destination and this cost is the responsibility of the buyer. If you would like to use this method of shipping, please contact me before making a purchase.

We try to keep the shipping costs as low as possible so we usually ship Ground Services for Canada and the continental USA. For international shipping we use Express Services. Delivery will be made to the delivery address you have indicated on the order form during checkout.

CUSTOM FEES & DUTIES
Custom and duty fees are applied to international shipments at the discretion of each receiving country. These charges are beyond our control and are the responsibility of the buyer.

For customers in the USA, original artworks are entitled to enter the USA duty-free under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) or the new United States - Mexico - Canada Agreement (USMCA) which is replacing NAFTA.

What is the estimated time for delivery?

Time for delivery will vary depending on destination. As soon as we get a timeframe from the carrier, you will be notified of the expected delivery date. This estimate also takes into account the time necessary to build the custom packaging protecting the artwork.. The estimated time for delivery is:

• Canada = 1 - 2 weeks
• USA = 1 - 4 weeks
• Other countries = 1 - 6 weeks

Please contact me if you need a faster delivery timeframe. I might be able to accomodate with a faster service and/or different carrier.

IS THERE INSURANCE DURING TRANSPORT?

Our responsibility ends when the order is delivered to the carrier and we are not responsible in any way for any damage or loss that may occur during shipment. Insurance included with carriers fees is very limited (0$- 100$, depending on the carrier). We strongly recommend buying additional insurance to the full value of the artwork. Please contact us if you would like insurance, and it is not available for selection on the artwork’s page.

How will my artwork be packaged?

Artworks are fragile so they will be carefully packaged and placed in custom-built boxes or crates to minimize the risk of dammage during delivery.  We recommend the use of rigid "Cardboard" packaging or wooden boxes depending on the weight and dimensions of the artwork. Any artwork 122 cm (48”) or larger in any dimension will be boxed in a wooden crate. All wooden crates are fully ISPM compliant to protect plant resources from the spread of invasive pests moving in global trade.

Artworks on paper or mylar will be secured in layers of protective material, and shipped either flat or rolled in tubes, depending on their size.

What do I do if my artwork is damaged?

If you have purchased additional insurance and the package suffers damage or loss during shipment, we will ensure that the situation is resolved effectively and efficiently.

Please check your package before signing the delivery note from the carrier. If your artwork arrives and you either suspect or see that it is visibly damaged, it is your responsibility to write "suspected damage / subject to verification / damaged" on the delivery note BEFORE signing, in order to benefit from the insurance contracted. It will be necessary to send me by email the list and photos of the damages no later than 48 hours after delivery.

What is your return policy?

You can cancel your order at anytime before the order is shipped by contacting us at info@sylvieadams.com or calling +1 (514) 349-3125. In the event that a custom built wood crate or cardboard boxe was made for shipping, you will be charged the cost of that crate or box.

In the event that you are not satisfied with your purchase, an exchange for another piece of art can be arranged. Contact us immediately at info@sylvieadams.com or call +1 (514) 349-3125. We accept returns for exchange or credit towards another acquisition only within 48 hours of receipt of the artwork.  The credit will be valid during 4 months.

Artwork returned for exchange must be packaged in the same container as it was shipped. All artwork returned for exchange must be received undamaged. Return shipping and insurance costs are the responsibility of the buyer.

If you are unsure or hesitant about a piece, or you are not sure about the size, please contact us. We will glady help you make a decision based on your needs, your likes and the space you have in mind.

Do you do COMMISSIONS?

Yes, I will gladly do commissioned art, including personal and corporate commissions. Please contact me to discuss your project. Timeframe for production is usually 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the piece commissionned.

What are the materials useD in your artworks?

WORKS OF ART
All the material and supports I use are carefully selected to provide the best long-term protection for the artworks I create. I use only professional grade paints, inks, markers and other materials, from establish manufacturers who have research programs insuring the stability, durabilty, color fastness and aging properties of their products.

You will often see me describing materials as having archival qualities, meaning that they are acid-free or free of chemical compounds that can affect the preservation of works of art. Some will also have properties that protects works of art from the deterioration caused by environmental factors. The materials used are intended to last over time and allows for a better conservation of artworks.

SUPPPORTS
The works of arts created on paper supports (which include mylar) have the best archival quality possible.

MYLAR
In case you are wondering what mylar is, it is the name commonly used to describe a polyester film used in art and graphics. It was first invented by DuPont and is a registered trademark (Mylar®). The film used as a support for my works is of archival quality and is acid-free. It will not tear, absorb moisture or fade with age. As it does not contain a plasticizer, it will not become brittle with age under normal conditions and it is dimensionally stable.

Why do some works on paper come partially framed?

Some works on paper are sold partially framed for their protection. All the materials used are of archival quality. They come in a clear archival enveloppe with a white matting custom-cut to the dimensions of the artwork. They also come with a backboard cut to the same dimensions as the matting, made of Bainbridge Artcare Archival Foam Board. This technologically advanced foam board features technology which absorbs and neutralizes harmful gases before they can damage the art. The artworks come ready to be enclosed in a frame, or mounted according to your specifications by a frame specialist.
