Group Exhibition as part of “La Fête des Morts”
Thursday, November 5th 2015, 19:00
There are festive formulas that test the limits of our prejudices as they explore taboo areas in Western societies as the afterlife, mourning, funerary practices; this is precisely the case of the Feast Of The Dead. To demystify and update this traditional festival, which takes different names depending on the host cultures (Day of the Dead in Mexico, the Dead Festival in Brittany, Ghosts Festival in China, etc.), the Group Exhibition Project “Viv(r)e la nuit!” is born as part of the 4th edition of the Montreal event “La Fête des Morts”.
Organized by “Patrimoine funéraire Montréal”, “La Fête des Morts” is an artistic, cultural and historical event which aims to rediscover with fantasy Quebec’s traditions and other cultures centered around death. This event invites Montrealers to live this time of year differently and to discover in an openly festive spirit commemorations of the dead. Art workshops, concerts, exhibitions funeral altars and contemporary art, dance, video projections and conferences will be presented.
